IP phones and provisioning

Each endpoint receives configuration through a controlled, one-time process.

Discuss your deployment

PBXCenter supports phone profiles, one-time provisioning links and an inventory of trusted endpoints. A browser-based WebRTC workspace remains an alternative to a desk phone.

  1. Workstation choice

IP phones and WebRTC fit different ways of working

A desk phone suits a fixed position and can remain available without an open browser tab. WebRTC connects the call with application context and reduces physical hardware.

    • Reception may prefer physical keys and a permanent endpoint.
    • Hybrid teams can use tested laptops, browsers and headsets.
    • Choice follows ergonomics, network behavior and failure planning.
  2. Configuration issue

A one-time link limits exposure of endpoint credentials

Administrators create a profile and controlled configuration link. The phone is checked before issue and employees do not need a reusable SIP password in a setup guide.

    • Profiles organize settings for a supported phone model.
    • Provisioning links have limited life and are not permanent public URLs.
    • Issued endpoints enter a trusted device inventory.
  3. Maintenance

Inventory shows which phones belong to the environment

Trusted endpoints are managed as individual resources. Replacement, loss or retirement requires revoking old access and preparing the new device through the same controlled process.

    • One account should not be copied across unrelated phones.
    • Network or firmware changes require another call test.
    • Device documentation keeps user instructions separate from secrets.

FAQ

Direct answers before the conversation.

01

Does PBXCenter support every IP phone?

No universal compatibility is claimed. Model, firmware, provisioning method and required features are checked before inclusion in the deployment scope.

02

Does an employee need the phone's SIP password?

It should not be needed for daily work. Provisioning and WebRTC sessions reduce manual distribution of reusable SIP credentials.
